Some trailer love for my ‘Wild Encounter’ trailer from USA Today online here (click).

“This trailer does everything right to set the stage for a great romantic suspense. Driving soundtrack, evocative words and a touch of snarky humor. Love.” USA Today

The excitement continues.  ‘Wild Encounter’ has been nominated by reviewers for Best Action-Adventure/RomanticSuspense of 2012 over at The Romance Reviews website.

This is a great endorsement of one of my favourite books because TRR reviews thousands of books every year.

I’m extremely excited that ‘Wild Encounter’ was nominated for Romantic Suspense of the year by the Australian Romance Readers Association and will be holding my breath at the awards event on Saturday night — but only a little bit. When Nora Roberts and two times winner, Helene Young, are your competition it doesn’t pay to get too excited :)   But it’s lovely to have a reason to be excited at the dinner.

The cover of wild encounter showing a woman's frightened eyes, the hand over her mouth and an african scene at page bottom“WILD ENCOUNTER is a magnificent piece of work as it entertains and delights while it keeps you on the edge of your seat. [snip] From the first page, the action never stops. Inter-spaced with sizzling romance as Clare and Simon battle their way through misunderstandings and their own insecurities, this is one romantic suspense you don’t want to miss! I can’t wait to read more of Nikki Logan’s works.” Top Pick, 5 stars (The Romance Review) Read the Review

“The pages absolutely fly by in this romantic suspense tale. The author conveys both the romance and the danger of her veterinarian-heroine’s love-affair with her job and the places it takes her to, with deft insider knowledge.”    Read the Review

Cover for the book 'Wild Encounter' showing a woman with a man's hand forced over her mouth and a watermark of an african scene superimposed. Nikki Logan, author.

Copyright Entangled Publishing

It’s finally here! I debuted in Romantic Suspense this week with Wild Encounter which is set amidst wild dogs in Africa. I think the cover is amazing and I had a heap of fun making a trailer to match.  Buy the book

A wildlife release mission in Africa turns deadly when the convoy is hijacked by smugglers, and veterinarian Clare Delaney is taken hostage. Terrified for her life and her animals, the intrepid Clare establishes a rapport with the man she believes is the criminals’ leader, and reluctantly finds herself under his protection…and falling hard for the enigmatic man.

Alpha-to-the-max Simon deVries sees right through his sexy captive’s attempt to seduce her way to freedom. So when their simmering attraction flares into true passion, it takes them both by surprise. Now he’s torn between completing his secret mission and letting her escape without telling her his true identity. He knows if he lets her go, he will be risking his career, his life…and his heart.

Starting a new book is always the most exciting. Even more than finishing a book because you’re all fresh and full of ideas when looking at a cursor blinking on a blank page.

Over Easter I got the go-ahead on my latest work, set in London and running from Valentines Day to Valentines Day the following year. It’s a cautionary tale about not settling for ‘near enough’ — not because I think women should hold out for perfect (which of us is perfect, after all?) but because I think being alone is not so very scary that you should take just anyone rather than be in a relationship with yourself.

Fortunately for my new heroine, Mr ‘Near Enough’ takes matters into his own hands and stops her from making a huge mistake. Which is great because Mr Right sneaks up on her while she’s busy NOT looking for him.

This book (working title ‘That Valenines Girl…’) is due 1 June so I have some serious writing to do between now and then, but I’ll keep you appraised as it progresses.

xx

So a month or so ago I got an email from my editor letting me know my latest book had been accepted (yay) and asking me whether I could ‘squeeze in’ a novella before my next deadline. I hesitated because my schedule was carefully constructed to give me some time off over Christmas after I wrote-through the last two holiday seasons.

It’s a Christmas book…” she hinted.

Mmmmm… vaguely more interested, I’ve never written a Christmas book… Then she brought out the kryptonite

“…and it has to have puppies in it.”

A puppy-based Christmas book. SOLD!

So now I’m tapping away on a story half the length of my usual stories (though my last novella “Seven Day Love Story” was also 25k) and enjoying bringing my own special flavour to the story.  I knew this was an anthology and I knew that chances were very strong that the other two authors would be doing puppy-puppies–canine puppies–and so I wanted to do something different.

Instead, mine’s about a litter of wild-dogs and the conservationists working to help save them.

Aren’t they adorabubble!! African Wild Dog pups. I’ll let you know how I go when it’s all over!!  Back to the keyboard…

I’ve just sold another book to Harlequin (part of an eight-book continuity fantastically sandwiched between Marion Lennox and Patricia Thayer *sigh*) and it’s been given a title and release date.

Release: August 2012
Title: Slow Dance with the Sheriff

I don’t always get excited by the titles given to my books by Harlequin’s marketing team but this one I *love*. It’s exactly right for the tone and the story.

Nice work marketing peeps!
