Elizabeth Schragmüller
Elsbeth (Elizabeth) Schragmüller was known only as ‘Fraulein Doktor’ The real name of this German spy was not revealed until five years after her death of tuberculosis, some twenty years after she ended her spy career. Schragmuller had a doctorate in Political Science but, after fleeing to Belgium after the outbreak of WW1 she was assigned to mail interception tasks, collecting intelligence for the Germans. Not long after, she was promoted to the Chief of division and by the time the war was over she was a Lieutenant and Iron Cross recipient.
I think, if I had to be a spy, I wouldn’t mind being that kind of spy. Trolling thorugh documents, pulling out the pieces of puzzles. Using her degree and qualifications every day and getting out safely at the end of the war.
